Her love of art began when she was quite young. Doris always had a creative streak, and discovered many ways to exercise her talents. She started painting professionally in 1995.
Today Doris works in various mediums: oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, and enjoys plen-air painting. Her love of the southwest influences her art. She especially likes desert scenery and Indian and cowboy art. She is a resident of Arizona where she teaches watercolor classes in the winter months.
Doris studied art at the University of Arizona. She took pastel classes with Iva Morris, Urania Christy Tarbet and Don Webber, watercolor classes with Tom Lynch, and studied oil with Ray Downey and Julea Mandel. She is a member of the Northwest Pastel Society, and the Desert Arts Society where she served as President for two years. Her work has been exhibited at the June Doer Gallery and appears in private collections throughout the United States and Canada.
Doris paints scenery, portraits and buildings. She has prints available, matted or framed, or will do custom paintings of your home, farm or loved ones. These four are pastel. She also works in oil, acrylic and watercolor.
